Elac Miracord 50H Tonearm Return

Post by muradeli » 15 May 2019 03:41

Tonearm returns after reaching the end of the record as it should, but stumbles very shortly, approximately over the beginning of a 12-in record, and then returns normally to the base. Any thoughts why it stumbles? Thank you.

Probably dried grease in the mechanism. Cleaning and relubing it should take care of that.

I lubricated it, but it stumbling is still here. I noticed that when I disable antiskate (set to zero), stumbling disappears and the more antiskate force, the more tonearm stumbling before returning to tonearm base.

Managed to get rid of "stumbling" by adjusting the gap between control pin [201] and cycling cam [172], according to Fig. 21 in service manual, in addition of lubrication.
