New to turntable and need some help

Hi,

i recently bought this turntable NEC P435E https://i.imgur.com/u05CxmS.jpg

i was thinking to change the cartridge but i or the stylus but i am not sure what to search for, any help will be much appreciated

I think you have an AT-3100. If that is the conical stylus, an elliptical would be a cheap upgrade.

What Alec is saying is that you can easily replace the stylus assembly. It plugs into the front of the cartridge. It's cheaper and easier than replacing the whole cartridge.

You also know, this arm is low mass. You could get an Ortofon OM 20 in this arm, it would amaze you at what you can achieve in tracking capability, sound quality, and in performance. This NEC is a nice turntable, with a nice low mass arm. It in good order, will perform well, and amaze you with how it makes music.

Hello and welcome to vinyl engine.

By its look, it seems to be an audio-technica AT3401 cartridge (at least, its stylus is installed). You can replace the current stylus with an ATN3400, ATN3401 (both with conical stylus tip) or an ATN95E (elliptical stylus tip).

The AT3100 would be a moving coil cartridge. :wink:
