Looking for someone able to rewire my Micro Seiki CF1 tonearm

Post by onovno » 21 Jan 2019 17:45

I live in France and it seems that nobody overhere is able to rewire my Micro Seiki CF1 tonearm.
If Rega arm or Shure or watever no problem, Micro Seiki NO.
So if you know someone somewhere - reliable - that is able to do the job, please tell me. I own a Micro Seiki BL91 turntable that I bought in 1981 I think... and is today in mint condition so is the tonearm but the wires !

My english comes from school and I'm 66... hope I'm clear enough.

Thanks,

Jeff

This is a picture of my Micro Seiki CF-1 arm.

As you can see the round aluminum cylinder should be inside the arm and the wires should be welded on top of this cylinder.

When pulling out the extension cord the aluminum cylinder came out too....

I have the same tonearm and looking at rewiring. It maybe better to just get a new tonearm instead.

I don't know who specialises in Micro seiki tonearms...

It doesn't look impossible to do. But it is a job for someone experienced, not someone who has never done it before. Most arms are rather basic, but the bearings on the CF1 are smaller than usual and it may be pretty tight in there.
But: are the leads actually damaged, or do they simply need to be resoldered to the plug? Usually there is a fair amount of slack in leads, and you may be able to gently pull down enough on them to solder it all back up - again that 'you' refers to someone experienced.
