L833DD takes ages to get to speed

Post by romanroth » 11 Jan 2019 13:57

Hi there

This is my first post here so please be kind...

I haven't used my 833DD in many years. Now, I thought it's time to take it out of the basement again. Looks great and works perfectly BUT takes a good 20 minutes to get to the right speed. No noise, turns nice and smooth. I feel no resistance whatsoever when I turn it by hand. Anyone got some idea what could be wrong with my Lenco?

Cheers

Hi lenjack

Thanks for your reply. I have never done that, could you explain how to do this with my L833?

Cheers

Remove mat. Remove platter. ONE drop of sewing machine oil on spindle. You'll find Youtube videos on this, though not specifically for your table. However, this may not be you problem.

That won't work for the Matsushita DD motor of the Lenco... .

romanroth, does your turntable reaches the speed faster, if you give the platter a little "shove" by hand after start?

Hi themisto462
Strangely, it does not. Once it reaches proper speed and I turn it off and on again, it reaches speed instantly. 🤔

There isn't a lot of E-capacitors in that unit.
After 40 years, I'd change them with fresh ones.
