Technics SL D-2 dust cover

Post by jjcavied » 07 Jan 2019 13:21

Hello everyone,

could anyone please give me the specific dimensions for of the Technics SL D-2 dust cover and a good picture of those plastic "tongues"?

I can't find that information and I'm thinking to order that cover to an acrylic factory.

Thanks a lot

Welcome to vinyl Engine.

If you search the forum for Technics hinges, you should find various solutions for this problem. I have always solved this using small alloy custom brackets, however the advent of plastic printing has produced different solutions.

Pic attached of the lugs and an original hinge, plus my repair from around 20 years ago, still working fine.

Good luck

Thanks a lot.

But still, I don't have the dust cover and in Chile it's impossible to get one so that's why I need the exact dimensions.

Thanks

Julián

Chiltern, would be awesome (if you can) to have the measures of the "tongue" from the first picture.

Really thanks!

Hey Chiltern, can I ask you how thick is the plastic "tongue"?
That way I can look for a piece of aluminium of that thickness.

Thanks a lot!

This dust cover is also used on Technics D-3, SL-Q2, Q3 and Q33. The only difference being the label, just Technics on some, Quartz on others. It may well be the same on the belt drive models of the same era, B2, B3. In europe it was also used on the SL-20 and 23.

Sizes, max, there is a slight taper to enable the original tooling to open.

Width 420mm, depth 327mm, height 69mm. Material 3.15mm thick.

Hinge lug, 22mm wide, 3.15mm thick. The bottom of the lug is slightly below the level of the bottom of the lid, appox 2mm.

Hope this helps.

Pics attached.
