marantz tt 2000 dust cover hinges

Post by panixgr » 31 Dec 2018 15:54

Hello, merry Xmas and HPNY,
first post, this is about restoration of my old and forgotten turntable : marantz tt 2000. It hasn't been in use for many years, I am in a process of getting back to my old LPs. (as in record not as in Gibson, :D ). I ordered new stylus for my marantz, but can't find those old hinges. I can barely remember how they looked like, but I can guess their dimensions by measuring the sockets/cavities in the dust cover and the turntable itself.
Googling I came across something that allegedly is the original hinge (judging by the ad's description which is no longer valid). I have stored and attached this photo.
Also I came across some hinges which by their description and specs seem to roughly match the measurements on the cover and turntable : http://www.decibelhifi.com.au/turntable-lid-hinge-each

I can't seem to find the original ones. Can you ppl please suggest anything that with a little bit of modding will fit?

Also I found this :
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263073877534?ul_noapp=true

I asked the seller but he said he is not sure it will fit, then I asked for dimensions still no reply.

Perhaps this might Help - the base (the part that goes into the slots on the turntable plinth) is a standard size used by many different manufacturers. That opens up the possibility of using a non-Marantz branded hinge. I can't tell what the top of the hinge looks like so I can't make any specific recommendations. Have you tried just doing a search for 'turntable hinge' on ebay and looking through the results?

lots and lots of times, but I gotta be (kind of) sure first beforehand, those aren't cheap.

Okay - now I have a better idea what would work. Here's a short list of what would work:
- Sony PS-T1
- Sansui FR-D35 (and I think the D25)
- Sony PS-LX22

It looks like this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/143027935691

I know there's a few other Sony models that use the same style but don't know their model numbers.

Happy hunting!

That would work (the price is for one). I think you'll like the price on this pair more: https://www.ebay.com/itm/132904748836 (Full disclosure - that is my listing)

Hey, whats up!
I got the hinges, they fit the cover just fine but not the turntable. Their toung has not enough room to go through all the way in.
What would you suggest? modify them or return?

You need to find a CEC rebadged turntable or something from Fujiya Audio. Marantz bought their turntables from those two companies in that era. Marantz in their entire existence only built one turntable in all those years, the old SLT-12 and SLT-12U. Examples where you can find CEC and Fujiya Audio built turntables, Sanyo, Fisher, Realistic LAB 300, 400, 420, Marantz turntables of the same era as yours, and similar looking turntables under less well known brands.

ok, ppl, call me dump but ...... i found the original hinges in a locker out in our balcony!! I would never search in there... and those naturally fit like a glove...
Now, I am willing to sell those that tcolegrove sold me.

How should I advertise them? they fit the said marantz with slight bending on the tt side.
Should I sell'em as Sony? CEC, Fujiya, Marantz ?
