AR XA tonearm help

Post by 70shovelhead » 16 Dec 2018 15:02

Wanting to upgrade the wiring on my XA arm. Problem is removing the plastic pin retainer the headshell fits into. I cant, get it to budge. I assume it is glued in place? Advice appreciated.

I don't think there is any glue.
There are a couple of dimples on each side of the plastic insert (under the tightening ring) that holds it in place.
((I have not tried this)) but I've read where if you fit the back end of a drill bit that fits perfectly inside the plastic, you can gently grip the plastic with pliers and wiggle the insert back and forth to loosen it from the metal arm tube and dimples, pulling it out.
There is a dab of red paint on the plastic inside the tube to orient it back into the proper alignment once wires are replaced.
Good luck!
