Rega rb250 vs rb30x

Post by Rallen » 06 Dec 2018 23:46

I own 2 turntables both with sme 3009 s2, and would like to try something new on one of Them. Which is Best rb250 or rb30x? I am willing to do any needed mods.

Other tonearm suggestions would be appreciated as well. Will be used with ortofon 2m Black :-)

The 250 would be better if you are going to replace the end stub and counter weight. But when you start to factor in the cost of aftermarket parts counter weight, wiring, vta adjustment,etc...you can get a better arm for the same if not less. If you are into diy,I would look at the audiomods Classic 2. It would give you the adjustability of your s2 (except for the removable headshell) and preform better. A Good match for a 2m black.

In my opinion, the RB30x is a much better arm than the RB25x versions and well worth the modest extra outlay.
