Suggestion for a replacement bearing needed Micro DDX 1000

Postby stephanschmitt » 13 Sep 2018 20:41

The motor bearing of my Micro Seiki DDX 1000 is worn and produces audible rumble. I was unable to source a new motor unit here in the US or elsewhere and consider taking the motor apart and find a source that can machine an exact copy of the existing bearing. Does anybody have experience with a shop that manufactures custom bearings?
Any other suggestion? Thanks a lot!

I wonder if the guy who was producing Galiber tables is still around - he might be up for it.
This is probably a dumb question, but there isn't a ball bearing at the bottom of the spindle is there? - if so replacing it might solve the problem. Can't Help but think that you have already ruled that out, but it is worth asking before you get involved in what is likely to be an expensive process, whether you have one machined, or buy a donor table.

Thanks nat. Indeed, there is a ball at the bottom but the sleeve and the axle shaft show signs of wear causing the rumble.
