Strange clip on spindle, not e-clip or c-clip. Help get off?

Post by thatloafguy » 16 Jul 2018 12:41

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a secondhand beginner turntable, and it needs a bit of a clean (to say the least!). However, I'm having trouble getting the platter off. There's a strange looking clip on the spindle, it doesn't look like a c or e clip. I've tried a screwdriver and pliers and the dam thing won't come off. It spins round with a bit of pressure though.

It's a Sanyo TPX1 auto return.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you :D

Hello and welcome to vinylengine.

I know this clip as a "Seeger-Ring" (from the manufacturer Seeger-Orbis, patented 1927).

Normally you would need special pliers, which pushes both sides outwards at the same time, to remove it.

You could try to bend two hooks from a strong wire and pull the both sides at this way...
