Newbie Help

Postby Hibeat » 14 Jun 2018 05:55

G'day everyone, this is my first post on Vinylengine.
I've always had a fascination with turntables and the old amps from when I was a young teenager with no money in the 1970's. So I've always bought them if they were cheap enough.
Now I need to cull the herb (my wife says). I would appreciate your Help with which one I should keep:
Toshiba SR-870 + SA-304 amp + SS-350 speakers
Garrard 6.400
Dual 1214
2x Dual 505
Dual CS430

It'll be harder letting go of the 12 amps I have.... #-o

Since you have the great Toshiba set, I say keep that and maybe the 505's...You could set up a second system with one of the 505's and keep the second one for parts or as a spare...If I were you, I'd sell the Garrard and the other Duals and buy some speakers or accessories with the proceeds from the sale...Either that or buy more records! :D

Why do you need to cull, are the kids going hungry? Is your wife going to cull her shoe/ handbag/ cloths collection to? If not why not? :D
I collect hifi and watches, my shelf is big enough for all and more components is I want and my watches all fit in a draw. As long as my hobbies dont impact on anyone else, hey what the heck it is "my thing" and that is the end of it.

Chris, I've sent you a Pm.

To the OP, maybe you could sell at least one of the 505s?
