Yes that is true. Give her 20-30 hours break in time and then you will see. My MP-200 sounds good right of the box but now after 30hrs sound really better.

I am by no means an "audiophile". I love music and I've always loved vinyl. I used to DJ using some second-hand SL-1200MK2's about 10 years ago but no longer - but I did keep one of them to play my records with. Really do love this turntable even though it is a bit beaten up.

I used a cheap cart (dare I say, I think it was some $50 Stanton thing) back when I DJ'd but now I have a Rega Elys 2 and it really does sound nice and produces a sound I never thought possible from my old 1200.

It's a very good cart, especially for the money.

Denon DL-301 mkII; worth the extra $ over the DL-110, although I think the 110 is also a good match (and you don’t need a MC stepup/Mc preamp because it’s a high output MC). Both seem to be well matched compliance wise to the arm. Thinking about one of the Hana EL or SL; anyone have any experience with either on the SL-1200mk2? I have all the KAB mods on mine.

Great match, there are better carts for the Technics but the ml is a bargain imo.

It might be the perfect match, maybe not. The latest SL-1200's have a 3mm mat and thus a cartridge must be at least 17mm high from stylus tip to top of cartridge to synchronize with the TT's VTA adjustment feature for a properly leveled cartridge. Since the Shure M97eX is about 15mm high. It will require a 2mm shim to be level at the SL-1200GR's ZERO VTA setting. Here's an example of a properly shimmed Shure V15V-MR, which is 15mm tall, ready to be mounted to an
