Technics SL-D3 lowering the height of the tone arm

Post by Immisx » 11 Jul 2019 04:02

Hi

We've got our old Technics SL-D3 up and running. I have a Nagaoka MP-110 cartrdge installed. I've just changed the rubber mat on the platter for a leather one and now the arm has a bit of an angle on it. I've tried to decipher the manual on how to lower the height of the tone arm but I can't figure it out. Can someone please give me break down or point to a video they may have stumbled across that shows how this can be done. Thanks heaps.

Not sure you can do that. However, there are alternatives.
You could put something under the mat, or between the cartridge and the headshell, to make up for the different thickness of the mat.
You could also put a thin shim across the top rear of the cartridge, to change its angle in the headshell, making it parallel to the record surface.

Cheers,
Alec

Alec is right. Arm height is not adjustable.
