Technics SL-D31 Tonearm

Post by jerak » 17 Jan 2019 22:12

Hello all,

I recently got a Technics SL-D31 for my birthday. I love it, but there's one thing that is not working well. When I got it, the tonearm did not raise high enough, so it slid over the record when the record was at the end. I managed to fix that by disassembling the turntable. However, now sometimes when I press the start button, the tonearm goes all the way to nearly the end of the record (about 80%). This happens only sometimes and I cannot find any logic behind it (although it seems that when I haven't used it for a day or something it does this, but this seems fairly odd). In all other cases, it goes perfectly to the beginning of the record.

Any clues here what it can be?

Thanks in advance!

Jeroen

So, I got a little further, thanks to this post: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=106253
It seems to be the exact same problem. However, currently I cannot find out how the record-size detection works. I see that there are two small pins, which are popping out a couple of times when the record starts playing.
