Strobe Light not Working SL-1350

Postby 0070julie » 10 May 2018 16:32

Hi everyone, old issue but trying to see if anyone fixed this on theirs before?
My strobe light is not working on my SL-1350. I did find a replacement bulb, but it still did not light up.
Does someone know what to look for after that and the value of the resistor /pieces to change?
Many thanks!

The resistor value is in the service manual parts listing. Not sure if the service manual is available on line here, but if not probably available on eBay.

There’s no service manual here, but you should expect the resistor value to be 4.7k if the power source is a center tap on the primary side of the transformer. Otherwise probably a 10k if it’s powered at 120 volts. Check for voltage from the source, as well as any fuses in line with the neon tube.

Thanks Sleepwalker65. I'll check this out for the value of the Resistor! And I will look for the service manual, all I can find right now is the Supplement service manual and there is nothing regarding the strobe it seems.

The resistor is 4.7K and is connected directly to the mains supply with a fuse in line with it. 125ma rated. 1/8A if marked that way.
The SL-1350 and the SL-1300 use the same board. The 1350 is a changer with a different motor, platter and the drop spindle hardware added. The schematic for the 1300 can be used for both.

hi all!
I finally opened my TT and saw that the Fuse linked to the strobe is actually a 315 ma on the SL-1350, but the Resistor is a 4.7K as in the Sl-1300. So to add to my insecurities, the sl-1350 does not have the exact same specs as the sl-1300. :D However, since all voltages and values were ok, I went with another strobe light model, different from the one sent, that looked a lot more fitted to the enclosure and voila! It finally works!
Thank you all for the Help
