I read on another forum that rolling up those orange earplugs, and inserting one in the middle and one in each end which, once expanded, dampens the tonearm nicely. Haven’t tried it yet, but it would be interesting to see if doing this makes a difference.

iI have tried cotton ball in both ends on a 1200 mk2 arm and it defenitely tightened the bass. It' s quite tricky to put just anough cotton and let the wires free to move inside the arm. At the time i had two 1200's from the same year for comparison, 1200's from different series do not sound exactly the same. Resonance and tracking tests with or without cotton showed the same results but the cotton modded arm sounded drier for sure and i can't explain why, it probably affects frequencies in the audible range, but i do not have a frequency sweep test record to prove it. In the end i did not like the sound so i reverted to stock arm. You can also experiment with elastics or shrink without disasembling the tonarm like i did.

Tomorrow I will remove the to earn inner rubber. Inside my configuration the bass it’s quite “muddy” now. So I will revert too
