Yes. There is definitely something wrong with that platter. It should be rotating in a level manner. You need to remove it to check. Let us know if you don't know how.

I'd be a bit more concerned about how much your platter is rising and falling! It may not be sitting on the centre spindle correctly, sometimes you can get some muck between the spindle and platter hole causing misalignment. Worth checking.

Andy
Platter is rising and falling because I moved the suspended bottom base by hand to reproduce the problem mentioned before! Platter itself is sitting on spindle firmly and doesn't wobble at all.

Ah!
I can see that now, as the platter is fine towards the end of the clip. Just ignore me!

Technics SL2000 is NOT a 1200.

Ya might want to get an Ortofon 2M Red. It's economical, easy to mount, quick to align, and sounds real good. In fact, it's the cartridge Technics provides with its new 1500c TT. If you become interested in greater performance you can replace the stylus with the Ortofon 2M Blue. if you have the original headshell you may want to abandon it for an Ortofon SH-4 which accommodates the standard top screw model of 2M Red, and being a taller headshell, it will permit for the cart to be leveled by shimming if necessary.

Sorry, it is an SL1200 as stated in my first post. Just got lazy on my reply. :( :(

You know, as a youngster I remember going to my friends pads and listening to some tunes on their great stereo equipment. I could not afford such things. But now in my sunset years its nice to be able to purchase some of these vintage pieces and enjoy them again. Started with my Technics turntable, then my Pioneer SX1010 and then my awesome Cerwin Vega CS150. Kinda brings me back a little. Thanks for helping out this newbie. All suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bob
