Add a new connector on a Philips electrophone.

Post by LFC_ » 07 Feb 2019 14:08

Good afternoon everyone,

I am the owner of a Philips 447 electrophone, to which I am very attached. However, it only has 2-pin DIN for external loudspeakers connectors. I have been wondering whether it was possible to find an adapter to RCA or jack. After my researches, I have concluded that it was not, because 2-pin DIN connectors convey a sound that has already been amplified to passive loudspeakers, whereas jack connections are made to convey a signal to an active device. Therefore, my question is : is it possible to modify the electrophone so as to neutralize the amplifier system and adapt a jack/RCA connexion ?

Thank you very much,

Johan

If the 447 you are talking about is this model : https://www.vinylengine.com/library/phi ... -447.shtml , you have, according to the manual, a tape output, to record on a tape or cassette recorder. So you can use this output to feed an amplifier, on a line input or a tape input preferably. The output on the Philips has probably a DIN socket, but you can find adapters.
