AT-1000T Transformer

Post by tehvoodoo » 12 Apr 2019 23:27

looking for any details about this step up transformer, reviews, manuals etc...only 1,000 were made. I bought one about 3 years ago. I've found some basic specs, that's about it.

any info would be appreciated!

Hello and welcome to the forum.

You can find a description in the audio-technica catalog from 1982/83 (page 6):

https://www.vinylengine.com/library/aud ... eral.shtml

Here is a review from the Japanese magazine Stereo Sound (No. 61, December 1981), but it primarily refers to the AT1000 cartridge:

I know about two more reviews, but unfortunately they are in German (and they also primarily refer to the AT1000 cartridge.)

For the manual, I would contact audio-technica Japan, maybe they have it in their archive.

I hope this helps a bit.

Regards.

Thank you!!

this helps out tremendously! it's like giving an identity to just a name.

I have contacted Audio Technica, butI haven't heard back yet.

I would love the German reviews as well! I have a friend that can translate for me.

thanks again!

A while ago, I sent also a request to AT Japan and the answer took a while (I think it was about a week).

Review #1, HiFi-Stereophonie 11/82:

Review #2, FonoForum 02/83:

Thank you again!

You have been a tremendous help

So according to the first link, The AT-1000T sold for 2200 DM in 1982, and the cartridge sold for 3200 DM.. using a calculator for inflation that's almost 2200 euros today, and about $2400 USD..

I looked up some recent sales around the world. One in almost the exact condition as mine, original package box, original grounding plugs, clean cosmetic appearance but missing manual sold for almost $2,000. I got mine for over $600 3 years ago..

Units with no box, missing grounding plugs, or general bad to ok cosmetic appearance have sold for $800 to $1500. .

It's held up value pretty good considering its age.

ill probably hear from AT next week then. I emailed them on Tuesday..

The only thing that you need now, is the matching cartridge... .
