Audio-Technica AT-LP7 vs AT-LP5

Post by MaineBear » 20 Mar 2019 02:34

I am looking into buying a new turntable. I'm looking at the Audio-Technica AT-LP7 and the AT-LP5.
Can anyone give me any advice on these?
Is the AT-LP7 worth the extra $350?

Thanks for any help

I'll give your thread a free bump and say that if you can swing it, go for the LP7. MDF vs. plastic alone could make it worthwhile. Not a fan of plastic plinth 'tables. The AT7 built in preamp is hard to suss out. Paying $800.00 for any 'table with a built in pre in the signal chain, regardless if you can switch it off, would give me pause. Tonearm looks very respectable.

Choose AT-LP1240. Is cheaper but instead of AT-LP7 direct-drive which is better. Has more DJ look.

1240 may be DD, but the published wow and flutter spec for the LP7 is better.

A rather sweeping statement.
