Setting VTA on an ATLP120

Post by RobberOfBostonPlace » 06 Jan 2019 16:06

So I use three cartridges, the Nagaoka MP110, the Audio Technica VM540ML and the Ortofon 2M Blue. I've aligned them all according to the Conrad Hoffman arc protractor. The tonearm base is set to 0. I have a Technics rubber mat and the Audio Technica mat under it. I'm trying to adjust the VTA. I have no idea if the height adjust should move from 0 or stay there? Has anyone else figured out how to adjust the VTA on this table? Any help is appreciated.

The link is a visual for something you can make yourself cheaply using card stock or mat board or anything you have on hand that you can scribe a series of lines parallel to the record surface. With the headshell and cartridge cued down along side the gauge. Just eyeball from the side view, the top of the headshell which is also parallel to the cartridge. General rule of thumb is alignment equal to the lines of the gauge. Also useful to experiment whether your cartridge sounds better tilted either up or down from the "level" setting. Which is your baseline.
