That was about the very first CD that I ever purchased back in '94..... and I still have that very copy. :)

I previously has a cassette of it.
However, I lent it to a friend in a bar and never saw it again.

It's a great album and my favorite CJ album. :)

BTW, as the story goes, they got permission to use the church to record a "Christmas album" They just neglected to say that the only thing related to Christmas was it was to be released during the Christmas season ... not that the songs had anything to with Christmas.
Whether this is true or not, we will never know. :)

Amusingly, some who are not aware of the CJs erroneously think that their version of "Sweet Jane" is by "Mazzy Star"

Thanks for sharing your memories and insight into the making of this album. It really shows what can be done with a simple set-up, minimal equipment, lots of preparation and of course talent.

BTW speaking of "Cowboy Junkies" ......
The is an early album when they were still developing their signature sound.... that has sometimes been refereed to as "country music on Valium".
Anyway, it's will worth seeking out for any CJ fan. :)

This 2 CD set from Columbia/Legacy isn't your standard pop compilation. It features a lot of longer jazz pieces from 1963-1980. If you like his jazz performances as opposed to the pop hits or are just a jazz fan you will probably enjoy this.

That sounds like a good one, Tink! IIRC, there was a time when the jazz purists were against him for sounding too pop and the pop guys loved him, but hated his more experimental stuff...And then, there is this little ditty here...Get your groove on to THIS! And before you say nay to it, remember that in Northern Soul circles, this one would kill on the dancefloor! :D
