I was just in the mood for some vintage "Stones" today..

This is actually about the very first CD that I ever got.
Somehow, I manged to hold on to it all these years :)

I picked this up at an rspca op shop the other day. $1 in near new condition.
I've never heard it before and it has well and truly 'Blown Me Away'...

I've had this one for years, but never gave it a fair go. It really surprised me too...

Experimental, Electronic, Sound/Noise scapes with a pulsing, bass drone, giving it a warm sound. Any abrasiveness is buried deep in the mix.

Some great renaissance inspired music from The Amazing Blondel for a cool, raining NY afternoon. :)

It's a great Album. To be honest I haven't listened to any of their later stuff. I went into this fresh when I bought it, not playing them for quite a while. The new vocalist is awesome, slotting in perfectly with the sound. It's Heavy and Brutal with a few hints towards the Technical and Progressive. I just looked it up for the first time and it gets many positive reviews. I will have to check out a couple of the later albums. Track five 'Iceberg Dances' a standout on this listen.

"Americas" by Strunz & Farah - a wonderful recording and a great litmus test for speakers, with the counterpoint between the 2 guitars.

Nice, mauserman...A guy I bought records from off of Craigslist (My "basement guru" as I call him, since his secret record lair was in his basement) turned me on to Strunz & Farah...Great guitar melodies and I'm sure sounds absolutely wonderful in your system! 8)

Now, if you like that, look for Pepe Romero doing Rodrigo's "Fantasie Para Un Gentilhombre" or "Fantasy For A Gentleman"...Lovely classical guitar! Or pick up something nice featuring Julian Bream!

Thanks, vinyl master - appreciate the listening tip. I'll have to add that to my collection :) My first-ever CD was "Passage" by William Ackerman on Windham Hill Records, so I have something of a soft spot for guitar. I also enjoy Willie & Lobo as well as Rodrigo y Gabriela - I feel they have some roots in common with Strunz & Farah.
