That's awesome!

Oh, I'm never getting rid of my 45s, LPs and 12-inchers, believe me. :)

Great to talk with another 45 junkie!
Well then, Quartz_Lock10729, I suspect you've got some reading to do...If you love the little 45's like I do, then you should DEFINITELY check out the "Gallery" thread I started here...Lots to "ooh" and "aah" over! :D

If you have any pics of your own records, feel free to add them to my thread! =D>

Oh, and if you wanna dig a little deeper, I'd love to know more about the records in your collection...I have a thread for that, too!

VERY cool! I shall contribute to those threads just as soon as I can; indeed, I'm a 45 junkie myself, having collected them since I was a little tyke and used them when I used to be a mobile DJ. =D>

BTW -- do you have this? It was released in '87 as a collection of extended dance versions of some of her classics. The mixes are hot, and I've used them during parties I DJ'ed for years ago. I have it on vinyl AND CD...

I believe I do have that somewhere on CD and I have a few of her singles like "Angel" on 12" vinyl...

Cool.

"Angel" is one of my favorite songs by her; have it on a Sire 45, but it would be cool to hear extended versions on 12-inch single.

So, Quartz_Lock10729...What genres of 45's do you collect? :-k What have been your favorite purchases so far??? I think my best find so far was a Hank Ballard & The Midnighters EP with picture sleeve for $5.00 at a flea market up north...I bought that with a couple of Bill Doggett EP's, too and knew they were worth at least more than $5.00 apiece! I have about 8,000+ 45's with about 1,000 or so from 1990 and onward and a couple thousand picture sleeves with a few oddities thrown in for good measure...The rest are your standard 50's-80's mix with about six or seven boxes of rare Northern Soul music (funk, disco, dance, R&B, etc. and lots of "unknown" artists) that I continue to go through from time to time...They've been fun to collect, for sure! 8)

To be honest with you, I haven't bought one in a long, long time...I'd say a couple of my last purchases were "When Can I See You Again" by Babyface (Epic) and "Lullaby" by Shawn Mullins (Columbia); these were like mid-90s. But I have a massive collection from years gone by, as well as from my days as a mobile DJ. This stuff encompasses the genres you mentioned that you have, including rock, disco, R&B, "adult contemporary," soft rock, soul...you name it. I also have some rare compilations of pre-mixed songs for DJ use on 45, and a plethora of picture sleeve discs and collectibles (such as a limited edition 45 of Duran Duran's "The Reflex" in which the record sleeve folded out into a full sized poster)...

Forgive us, andy...We got a little carried away...There are about 2,000-3,000 CD's in the collection now, too!

And thanks for turning me onto these guys! =D>

In return, I have some new discoveries for you...And YES, you're welcome! :D

If you like the retro-classic sound, I think those might be right up your alley! =D>

Ohm:

Guitarist Chris Poland has been around since 1977 as a member of the Fusion band The New Yorkers, later he joined the legendary Metal band Megadeth and formed the Prog/Heavy rock band Damn the Machine. After the millenium Chris formed Ohm: along with his old friend Robby Pagliari.Their eponymous debut from 2003 is an all instrumental album featuring Poland's leading guitar performance, the complex bass lines of Pagliari and the jazzy drumming of David Eagle.Their sound is a mix of melodic Fusion in the style of Liquid Tension Experiment and complex, chaotic Heavy Prog in the vein of King Crimson and Tryo.No need for any keyboards here, as the composition are very rich and diverse.Among the interesting and well-arranged releases in the all instrumental Jazz/Fusion/Prog territory.
