The Transcriptors designs look wonderful. Their sound has impressed a lot less.

I would go with a more traditional design and scarifice the looks. I'm a Linn user which with which some here will heartily agree and others just as heartily disagree.

So what to do?

There's no perfect piece of audio equipment. This applies particularly to grooved record playback items. There's that mechanical-electrical business and changing anything affects the sound. The best part of this is that it allows endless play and enjoyment. The worst part is that it can become an all-consuming passion.

In essence, when choosing a turntable (or any other piece of audio gear) you are choosing the distortion(s) you can best live with.

Just think, if there were a perfect sytem, our play and experimentation would be over. Might have to do something adult for a change!
