Thorens TD160 motor

Post by simply-rudolph » 28 May 2019 17:59

Desperately seeking a Thorens TD160 motor
Acquired a turntable with a bent spindle, I have bought 2 on eBay, only to find they too have bent spindles.
Need to find decent one.
Any help appreciated
Thanks

If you already have two motors with a 50hz pulley - just swap the pulley on the one I have.

IIRC the TD165 motor is different to a 160 in that it does not have the clutch mechanism. Not so simple to change the pulley and not damage the spindle.

Alec's method well worth a try, might take a while but you have nothing to lose.

Yep tried that (for hours) and can get it to a point, and then over do it and back to square one. Was driving me round the bend and resigned myself to buying a second hand one. Surely, the motor spindle being 100% true is the key to being:
a Silent
b Pitch perfect
Correct me if I’m wrong.
