I had a pair of problems which solved each other. The Carbon arm tube is quite 'ringy' as you would expect, so it had to be damped. I was reluctant to add extensive weight as this was counter-productive.
Also, I needed to deal with noise pick-up from the wire in the arm, and Litz braiding is the obvious answer.
When the wire is braided, it is a bit larger, and effectively damps the arm resonance. It also adds mass (Teflon and copper) to the arm, so it has the benefit of being several materials, rathe
