STD 305

The original STD 305M featured a heavy brushed metal plinth.

The 305S was a cheaper variant in a moulded black plinth and the 305D had electronic speed control.

Drive system: belt drive

Motor: 16 pole synchronous (305M, 305S), 9V brushed DC motor (305D)

Platter: 300mm (outer), 156mm (inner)

Speeds: 33 and 45rpm (305M, 305S), 33, 45 and 78rpm (305D)

Wow and flutter: 0.06%

Rumble: -70dB

Dimensions: 474 x 364 x 156mm

Undoubtedly capable of high sound quality. While the STD 305M remains worth considering, the 305S can be confidently recommended as providing good value for money - £170 HiFi Choice 1984
