Stax UA-7

The Stax UA-7 is a multi-use, integrated tonearm with replaceable arm tube.

Cartridge: Magnetic or condenser types

Bearing: Special dual suspension type

Balancing: Static balancing

Headshell: U-shaped non resonant structure

Arm lifter: Oil damped

Output cable: Noiseless low capacitance type

Rotational friction: 5mg or less

Bias compensation: 1-3g variable

Weight of pickup cartridge: 2-16g

Effective length: 240mm

Mounting distance: 227mm

Overhang: 13mm

A beautifully finished arm with either aluminium or carbon fibre tube, though there was little to choose between these options, both having a highish 16g effective mass. Rigidity limitations at the unipivot and double universal connections limit the model's competitiveness at it's highish price - HiFI Choice 1984

I just saw a site where they had the history of Stax, according to that site this arm is 1981.

Hi, According to Stax the original UA-7 was introduced in 1970, with the updated UA-7N appearing in 1981.
