Modular Component Systems MCS-6720

The key to the MCS-6720's superb rotational characteristics and low wow & flutter is a precision quartz locked direct-drive motor system. The built-in FG (frequency generator) is of the full-cycle detection type for greater accuracy. Reliable IC circuit helps assure outstanding long-term performance. High torque characteristics mean fast start-up and minimum load fluctuations.

The danger of acoustic feedback (howling) is minimized by special upper and lower base construction employing a newly developed anti-resonant material having high vibration damping characteristics.

Easy-to-use front panel controls let you operate the turntable without having to open the dust cover.

For excellent trackability with your best discs, this unit is equipped with a low mass, S-shaped tonearm in a true gimbal suspension. Extremely low friction in both directions means more sensitive tracing ability. Thanks to the universal headshell connector design, you can change cartridges more easily.

The tonearm automatically goes to the lead-in groove at the beginning of a record, and automatically returns to the arm-rest at the end. You can also reject a record in the middle by simply pressing the start/stop button again. Manual operation is also possible, thanks to the front-panel cueing control.

For confirmation of correct rotational speed, this unit provides an LED strobe lamp synchronized to the same precise quartz oscillator as used in the drive system.

33.3 and 45 rpm speeds are indicated by LEDs above the two speed selector buttons on the front panel.

Anti-skating force control is adjustable to compensate for side thrust on the tonearm. Simply set to same value as tracking force.

The Vector Aligned dual magnet construction of the phono cartridge assures effective stereo separation at all frequencies, even at the very top of the spectrum where conventional cartridges may blend the two signals into substantially monophonic sound. Instrument location is more precise and unvarying which can permit greater flexibility in speaker placement. The AT71 offers superior tracking ability, extended frequency response, and greater stereo separation.
