review this tonearm (3 reviews)

Audio Technica AT 1009

The AT-1009 is a high grade tone arm specially designed and examined for the record lover based on basic mechanisms such as trace ability, mass of moving elements, strength etc so that it may meet every strict demand of the 4-channel era.

Further, easy handling and simplicity are maintained.

From the head shell to the fine adjusting knob of the rear end, every part is uniquely designed so that the basic efficiency may be well enhanced.

Effective length: 240mm

Overhang: 15mm

Mounting distance: 225mm

Effective mass: 18g

The AT1009 is a classic example of the Japanese approach to pickup arm design, although perhaps of a period now passed. It's construction is precise and beautifully executed, but by current standards the design may be considered unnecessarily ponderous - Noel Keywood HFN 1978
