Ortofon MC15 Super MkII and Ortofon X5-MC

Postby rmnd » 12 Jun 2002 19:09

Could someone inform me whether the Ortofon MC15 Super MkII and the X5-MC are suitable for the following tonearms : Ortofon AS212, Thorens TP16 MkI (detachable headshell), and SME 3009/S2 Imp both detachable and non-detachable headshells? Should I use a different (non standard) counterweight in the case of the SMEs? Any other suggestions please? Best regards

Hi I own both MC15MKII and 3009/SII Improved (detachable headshell). I use an AT headshell, which is slightly heavier than SME's. The Ortofon and AT are too heavy. I need to stick something on to the balance weight. The antiskating also does not have the 2 gram setting needed. The sound is still good. However, I have recently switched to a Rega RB600.
