The Fisher XP-15 speakers

Postby Cabbage Patch Elvis » 17 May 2013 06:00

I found a pair of the Fisher XP-15s at an estate sale last week. For $25, I just couldn't pass them by. I finally got them hooked up today, and have really been enjoying them. Although I've looked around online, I have yet to find any real information about these. If anyone out there knows anything about these speakers, I'd be very grateful.
I know it's only rock & roll, but I like it.

Well, they came out in 1967, they have a 15" woofer, an 8" midrange, and a small soft dome tweeter. There is a pair of the b model from 1968 on e-bay right now for $550. Mostly they were used in theaters an auditoriums. They were considered too big for home use by most at the time. That's all I know.

Yeah, I saw those on ebay, but they are a different model. Mine are simply XP-15's and have a different configuration. The covers are glued on, so I'm not sure what's behind them, although there appear to be at least four speakers in each panel. Here's a photo of the model I have:

Sorry to be such a dummy, but I'm not very good with speakers. Thanks!

Does the back panel come off?

Cheers,

Okay, I did a little more digging, and here's what I found:

...and they weren't kidding about the 90 lbs.

So far I've been really digging the sound. Warm, rich and full. Black Sabbath sounds AMAZING on these.
