Luxman R-3055 Receiver

Postby Ottermel » 02 Aug 2012 02:53

There is no manual here and I can't find much on it.
I have one for $ 200 in very good condition with only one owner (original owner of course).
Any opinions?

Can't find much info in my sources on it either all i managed to glean is that it is from the late 70’s and rated at 55 watts a channel. Opinions on it do seem to be favourable but i can't find an owners manual or service manual.

You could try posting on the luxman group.

The OM for the R-3045 is on HFE. Should be very similar with a couple more features.

This was the replacement for the R-1050 which is considered one of the best receivers, sound quality-wise, available.

I did get the R-3055 for $200 and also found an R-1050 also for $200 which has been cleaned up and had Speaker A terminals replaced with binding posts by a masters degree electronics engineer and it works well (I only tried it with the tuner and phono 1.
The sound from phono 1 had an imbalance with the left channel having a lower volume and the image was moved to the right. I'll have to check the phono 2 inputs and the auxiliary one tomorrow.

Well R-1050 is working great now on all inputs (haven't tried the tape inputs). I don't know what that was.

Anyone have other Luxman products like preamps, amps and integrated amps from the 70's and early 80's??

Yep, I've got an L-220 integrated amplifier and a PD-210 turntable. I'm presently keeping my eyes peeled for an L-120A or an L-410/430. I'm also keeping a lookout for a luxman preamp for when i get a poweramp. (not likely to be a luxman as i want to build my own)

I believe the member Jonti is quite a fan of luxman equipment too.

That is some sweet gear there. I'd like to add those two to my collection.
