Anyone with a Debut Carbon

To any of you Carbon owners...

Could you please tell me if they have the circular or the flat belt?

Thanks!

I don't have one but I do know from talking to and read from owners that is comes with the flat belt, not the round as pictures in many pre-release photos. This has also been confirmed by Needle Doctor.

I'm a tad disappointed by this fact, but all the other changes still make it a more than worthy replacement for the Debut 3.

Hi!

I purchased mine with OM10 cartridge couple weeks ago. Not the Esprit one but the regular with steel platter.
This was my first HIFI turntable since my previous was cheap plasticky Omnitronic.
So I can't say much. The sound was miles ahead compared to my Omnitronic.

Do you guys have any thoughts on cartridge upgrade since I still get inner groove distortion? I have aligned everything accordingly...
I heard the OM10 cartridge can be fitted with Ortofon Super OM 20, 30 and 40 styluses without the need to buy the whole cartridge...?

Or should I go with AT440mla for great tracking on inner grooves?

Thanks!

Ok, I was adjusting alignment with stevenson method and with the protractor that came with the turntable. Nothing changed still there is sibilance after first 20minutes of record, for example brand new Manic Street Preachers 180g Music On Vinyl pressing.

When I removed the anti-skate weight completely the sibilance almost disappeared! 8)

I thought I read somewhere on the forums that you should toss the anti-skate weight and it seems to be true.

Let's continune analysing.

The first samples of the carbon had a round belt but, after further tests, it was found that greater speed stability was gained usuing the flat belt so all production releases were with the flat version.

We only import it fitted with a 2M Red which makes a fantastic combination and ridiculous value for money compared to other models in the range and those of our friendly competitors.

I have had mine for about a month now w/ the ortofon red. I replaced the platter with the pro-ject acrylic platter. I also got the speed box II for it. So far it is a pretty amazing TT for the price.

Now this turntable is coming together nicely!

I just finished installing the AT440Mla.
Oh boy! This cartridge is out of this world compared to OM10! =D>
The accuracy and clarity with vocals and cymbals.
I have a new copy of Ozric Tentacles - Erpland. The opening track has some cymbals that OM10 simply couldn't track. They distorted like hell.
This baby plays them with amazing clarity.

And the IGD is finally gone! 8)

Well, just got mine yesterday. Managed to sell my old debut III at the same price as the Carbon, so it was a no brainer!
Upgrades that I passed from the Debut to the Carbon are:
- Ortofon 2M Blue
- Speedbox II
- Acrylic Platter

Add on: Pair of Audioquest Evergreen RCA's

The sound quality is simply miles away! For starters, the low rumble noise is 100% gone.. this baby is now dead silent. You have no idea how much I am enjoying this....
Sound is more open... tighter and defined.

Im playing this through a Yamaha RX-Z11 and a pair of Monitor Audio RX8 Silver.
