How many turntables do you have?

Postby 13oots2 » 02 Mar 2011 21:19

I know there are some real turntable hogs amongst us, myself included. I have 6 at the moment but am soon to be rid of a couple.
If I find myself caught between two evils I choose the one I haven't tried yet.

Two proper turntables, and two I'm going to sell soon. In fact I'm going to sell one of the proper ones soon and just have the one hot rodded Garrard 401 - if I can afford a Funk arm for it all the better!

I had to vote in the 5 to 10 category (8, but I honestly intend to get rid of a couple of them soon.) I showed the poll results to my lovely wife -- "see, I'ts not just me dear". She says there should be an ancillary question for the 75% who own three or more -- "What is your marital status?". I love the woman dearly, but she has no sense of humor.

how many turntables

Postby vincitsemper » 03 Mar 2011 04:00

Slightly embarrassed to confess to the following:

1 LP12
10 GL75s
2 GL72s
1G102
1 GL70
1GL68
1 GL99
2 401s (1 platterless)
2 B&O 1202
1B&O 1000
1 AR XRB1
2 Garrard type A
1 Garrard 4HF
3 TD150MK1
2 TD150MK2
1 TD160
and of course a few projects left unfinished.
Although I must add that I have sold a few bits lately and aim to
radically slim things down.

After a small cull for christmas, only 18 now!!

Ariston, RD11s/Jelco, RD110/SMEIII, RD80SL/RB250
Fons International Mk 1
Heybrook TT2 Steel, Heybrook TT2 Alloy
Rega P2
Technics SL-1210Mk2
Technics SL-1610
Technics SL-150/SME3009 x 2
Technics SL-Q2 x 3
Technics SL-Q33 x 4

some of the Technics (Q2-33)were very cheap (typically £1) and with a quartz motor and alloy chassis are difficult to resist at that price.

At this time 92% of respondants have more then 1 table. A full 25% have 5 to 10.

I just mentioned this impressive result to my wife and her comments: "How many have wives? How many have relationships a female of the species?".

None of these are questions I wish to make into a poll - the results might make me sad.

I, and she, are kidding of course.

I got 3 "poor man's" tables:

a THORENS Td-135
a THORENS Td-184
a THORENS Td-165

somewhere I got also a small plastic portable turntable (lunchbox size).

The Td-184 is the most recent one and is under a complete revision now. Got it very cheap, but that shows.....
