Sumiko MMT - Accessory counterweight ?

Postby tg_ve » 17 Apr 2009 19:40

Have recently acquired one of these arms and have discovered that it requires an accessory counterweight (add-on weight) to balance heavier cartridges.
Does anyone have any idea where one might be obtained or have dimensions or a source to have one made ?
Hopefully someone here will know :?

You could send an email to Jelco (http://www.jelco-ichikawa.co.jp), They made the Sumiko MMT arm and maybe you can buy a new weight from them.

Weight: 30 grams
ID: 17.5 mm
OD: 26.5 mm
Length: 12 mm
Note that the only critical measurement is the inside diameter. It has to fit on the back of the original weight.

There is a set screw in the side to hold it solidly.

Alec,
I would have had it made so - with a locking screw, that is.
I would also observe, for anyone else interested, that I would think the length and mass to be equally important to the ID, WRT maintaining the accuracy of the secondary VTF marks.
I would expect that the OD can be varied according to the material used in order to obtain the appropriate mass.
ciao
