Thorens TD 115

The Thorens repair manual has the part number 7845011 for the assembly and says the motor is a 32 pole DC motor that consumes 16 mA when fed from an external 2 VDC source. If you pull the rubber mounting off of the motor, the plate on the motor has a stylized P for a manufacturer (Phillips?). Mine says W Germany Jan 78 with a part number of 931 2205 030.

I would love to find a replacement. Mine may have been bad. While testing it I removed all uncertainty. This thing is toast now, oops.

Adventures in Systemdek IIX land...

Postby mrsbadcrumble » 12 Jul 2008 17:21

Thought I would add my experience to this database thingy...

Original motor on a TT with the serial number :- 2-204826 (not sure if it's early or late version) - Philips 110v 50Hz 250rpm 9904 111 31807 - 3 wire system Red, Grey and Blue.

Replacement motor from RS (approx. £50) - Premotec 9904 111 31813 - 4 wire system Red, 2 Grey and Blue.

Linked the grey ones together and connected it up. It ran backwards  Swapped the blue and red cables around and it works the right way :D

Whilst I was changing things around I took the opportunity to place some thin rubber (2mm-ish) top and bottom of the motor and then clamped it to the bracket. I then used some more of the rubber between the chassis and the motor bracket. Quite good isolation from the motor and the chassis, at least according to my screwdriver-against-my-ear test :)

cheers

Ariston RD11 (original)
unbranded 9904 111 04301
24 pole AC Synchronous motor
110v
50Hz
250 rpm

Heybrook TT2 (MK1)
unbranded 9904 111 04801
24 pole AC synchronous motor
110v
50Hz
250rpm

Anyone know if these will run with a Hercules PSU as I'm thinking of eventually getting one for the RD11? I presume so.

Are the motors really 110/115V, or is that the power grid voltage where you live?

My pro-Ject motor is 16V, but the PSU's transformer has a 230V primary winding.
