Never thought about it: On a quick check it seems
to be a South African expression I carted across to
Europe!
I kept on using it 'cause most Germans use something
similar: They say that they will "Daumendrucken", also
meaning same as when you cross fingers for luck and
good fortune in the US of A.

Forgive me for mixing my languages up!

Anyhow, I hope quality and contents of record

I was wondering if that was the 180 glam ( think about it!) Chinese pressing.

My friends owns Diverse records who released "New Favourite" on LP, and my partner Maria did the artwork...look on the sleeve there's a thanks to Maria Dispirito on there somewhere....
Alison Krauss is one of very few artists that Maria will listen too un-prompted....she's not aurally led

Happened to unpack some of my old stuff
and found a 1978 invoice for that McNeely
Sheffield Lab-9 for South African Rand 25,99,
as I recall abt. +- equivalent to 50 Deutschmarks
in those days, so 30 US bucks aint bad at all
seeing I bought directly from the importers at at
least a 25% discount!

And it really still is heckuva lot of good fun to
listen to, so many years after issue!

Earl Scruggs was my first real introduction to Banjo ... way before Deliverance came out .. superb playing always

Been meaning to buy a few to listen again

Poco is also worth checking out for a couple of numbers

Al Jenkins a Welsh Guy from Solva West Wales .. a superb banjo player but whether he did anything in his own name I don't know .. probably guested & sessioned his way through life ... Al would play harmonics & slide fingers down the frets & finger style .. a real supremo

There was a Sheffield Lab-9 direct to disc
recording (1978) of a group called Larry McNeely
with him on banjo and friends Geoff Levin and Jack
Skinner on guitar. Lovely lively stuff that which at
least gives me the feeling of being somewhere in
a logcabin the Ozark mountains when that need arises....

I have come to really like this album. Can anyone make any recommendations along the same lines? I can't get enough of the live-bluegrass feel...
