Hi
I have a bit of a beginners question, I have been running a Sumiko Black Pearl cartridge on a Rega planar 2 with a Linn Basik LV V arm for about 9 years and been happy but its I think its about time to upgrade alittle on the cartridge front.
Now I would love to get a moving coil but my beloved Accuphase E 202 amp only has a MM phono input and not a Moving coil stage (as far as I can tell) and I don't really want to go down the pre amp road so I was hoping a high output MC might be the way to go, I am just a bit concerned about compatibility.
I was looking at the Denon DL-110 Phono Cartridge with an Output of 1.6mV or the Dynavector 10X5 with Output Voltage 2.5mV now the
Sumiko Black Pearl is 5mV and my Accuphase amp has two phono inputs
Disk 1 is 2.5-5mV (variable) with a switch for 30k ohms, 47k ohms, 100k ohms and Disk 2 is 2.5mV; 47k ohms.
On the rear of the amp there are two big knobs assigned to disc 1 input which I can only guess are left & right volume (as they do increase the volume when turned)
Just to further confuse me the amp also has a Disc Low Enhancement (for Disc Input) +1db at 100hz to RIAA standard characteristics (which I don't have the foggiest what that means) do any of these things help me on the MC front?
Is it possible to run either the Dynavector or the Denon straight into my amp?
Also I hope to get a RB 300 for the Planar to replace my Linn Basik LV V sometime in the future does this change anything?
Phew that was a lot to get out!
