Hi everybody.
Although I have been fiddling around with turntables since around 1969, I am new on this lovely site.
I couldnt resist the question, so here are my answer on both questions.
I own about 100+ turntables at the moment, but it is my intention to reduce this to about 20 over the next 5 years, and thereby make my humble contribution to spreading the joy of playing vinyl records properly.
My main (2) decks are at the moment on the workbench for upgrading. That is a TEAC TN-400 aquired from Japan, which I am about to build into a SME 2000 plinth with a SME 3012 s.2 arm/Ortofon SPU Gold, and my own product from my years at technical university - a 20+ kg thingy with an SME 3009R. During this tough period my chosen replacements are a lovely Sansui deck from around 1969 (dont really recall the type)and a SONY PS-X60.
And yes, I am married !!

Interesting thread. Some would call in the doctors in white coats to take us away. Anyway here are my current turntables;
Marantz TT-1000mkii
Lo-D TU1000
Sanyo TP-1000
2 Garrard 401
2 Garrard 301
3 Thorens 124mkii

I mainly use the 401. No belt drives for me. I'm also married and my wife claims that the Marantz is hers, I'm happy with that as it was her who got me back into turntables. Love her to bits for that.

Let's see:

Thorens TD-125
Sony PS-LX500
JVC JL-A40 (by marriage)
Weathers
Dual 1019 (two of these)
Dual 1219
FrankenDual 1228

That makes 8, or maybe it's only 7.5

Here's the FrankenDual 1228:

21828

I bought a Dual 1228 with a broken tonearm for $10.00. I stripped the arm and auto-mechanism, added a sub-base/arm board, re-sprung the suspension, and mounted a SME-3009 S2. This is my backup table for when the Rabco SL8E on the TD-125 goes down for periodic overhaul, and it also serves as my test bed for conducting various experiments. So, I'm not sure if it should only count as half a turntable, or if half a Dual makes 1.0?

Just one.
A Technics SL1200 MKII.
It's my back up table that I use all the time.

About twenty at present.

The two in daily use in my studio:

Technics SP-15 in DIY plinth with Jelco 10.25" effective length tonearm
Technics SL-1200MK5 with many KAB mods including 78 RPM

Others in occasional use include a DIY unit (Marantz 6170 DD motor/platter in heavy wood plinth with DIY 12" unipivot tonearm), Elac Miracord, JVC QL-A7, Pioneer PL-300.

In addition, I've got a dedicated Quadraphonic system using a Yamaha P-20 (FG Servo DD Full Auto), and a downstairs system with a Technics SL-6, which is a DD linear tracker.

The rest are out in the shop, awaiting refurbishing/resale.

Cowboy,
What do you think of the KAB 78 mod? any weird side effects from bone stock?

I have added 8 or 9 tables in the last month, so I am up over 20 now. went on a bit of spending spree on some very good deals, IMO. Anything from Empire 208 to Rekokut, to Russco, to Sparta, to Basis, to Sota to Weathers. Just plain nuts. Now I have enough projects for the next year.
