friend was cleaning out their garage with 4 shelves of vinyl. These are a few of them that I am listening too. Great old albums. Too bad the Beatles is a counterfit.

Ooh how is it ighten?? I caved in and bought the CD fanpack last month as I wanted it early, but could be tempted to double-dip if they've got the vinyl right. How about Headlong Flight then? Best thing they've done for a loooooong time, even if it does channel the spirit of Bastille Day at the 00.45 mark !!

Well to be honest its better than the CD but its a little akin to polishing a turd as far as the mix is concerned.. There's definitely more dynamics top to bottom (though not the dbl the needledrop sites are claiming) but the bottom end still sounds like the masterer or mixer just added some bizarre LFE effect to Neils Kick and lower registering kit.

Vocals sound better in the congestion of it all but that and the sharper snare are probably more to do with the cartridge than anything.

Once again its yet another superb album by the guys shredded (yet again) by terrible production and mixing decisions.

Super-groovy, fuzzed-out bliss.

Awesome!

Danzig is doing a cover of "Devil's Angels Theme" on his next album due out this summer.

At first I didn't know if I liked this record, but now it's one of the albums I put on the most.

Lonnie Mack - "Live - The Attack of the Killer V". I didn't know this existed and just found a copy this week.

Image

Stunning guitar and vocal work from Stevie Ray's hero. Lonnie and Link Wray both amazed me back in the early sixties as being far ahead of their time.

This is the 1963 Link Wray LP that did it for me:

Had the Swan original LP, lent it, never got it back, took many years to find it again as a Line Records reissue, and finally also on CD. A must listen for guitarists interested in the history of rock guitar, I think. Just listen to "Deacon Jones" and compare to anyone else from that era.

Fortunately someone has posted it on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jys32du9kAo
