It will fit as I have done it but it is not a good match compiance wise. The DL 103 sries carts like a heavier arm. Although you can add a headshell weight as I did and it will match better if not ideal......

Agreed. I have NO idea why the owners manual to my Infinity Black Widow (One of the lightest arms ever) shows a Denon 103 bolted on...I guess that's all that was available when they did the photo shoot! What a miss match.

better to use Ortofon 2M Black, Denon DL110, Nagaoka MP500 etc. The 103 is great on the 3012 SME

Want a LOMC cartridge on the SME, easy answer. Get a Denon DL-301. The high output Denon DL-110 is also a nice option. The Nagaoka MI cartridges are superb too. The SME is best on low mass MM and MI type cartridges, but there are a few MC cartridges which are OK choices.

Not only a bad match compliance wise, but also the SME has knife edge bearings which are the worst thing for a low compliance cart. Don't do it!

Traditionally japanese likes heavy, club-like, umbrellas, bench-like boots and low-compliant cantilevers, that suitable only for heavy, club-alike, tonearms - mr. Ikeda made his name on a such things. "Denon DL-103" - very traditional family of carttriges. However - in Japan lives not only "pokemurais" - but clever and enlightened people too - like dr. Tominari, who was made an excellent "Dynavector's" resonances-free arms, that suitable for virtually any carttriges.

the SAE 1000, high output MC also works very well on the 3009. I have one on my SP10 and am pleased
