Also its probably worth noting:

The mk 5's are imported from Japan, and are being used with a transformer sitting between the wall and the turntable. Only one is having this problem, however both have had the LED's swapped.

That kind of puts a diffrent twist on things...

Out of curiosity: the dodgy turntable what does it do when it is plugged in first time, is it in the pseudo ON mode or does it only do this once powered ON and then OFF?

Another thing the mk5 has potentially 7 LED on at any given time: strobe x4; 33/45 x1; popup lamp x1; quartz lock x1.
You can turn two of these off(pop up and quartz) before powering down does this change anything?

Do both turntables share the same step down transformer (230-100v) ?

No difference as to wheather the switch is on or off when first plugged in, no difference as when the pop up light is on or off (& pitch light) and each turntable has a seperate step down transformer.

Did you ever get around to testing the power micro switch with the wires removed?

tested with the resister removed (making the snubber circuit null) and operation is perfect. Will try changing the value of the resistor now, starting with 10ohms as suggested :)

Just tried with a 1kohm resistor, and it burnt in a few seconds. Placed a 1mohm resistor there, and it appears to be fine.....not sure if i should leave it like that, or if having a 1mohm resistor will cause issues in the future? or why I even need that much resistance at all? confused...

bump?

will having the mega-resistor in there cause any adverse long term effects? or any insights as to why a massive resistor is needed at all?
