Hi,
Beethoven's Fourth Symphony is recorded in an utterly special production with London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Pierre Monteux. This is a 200-gram vinyl reissue by Classic Records. I have seen it only at http://www.acousticsounds.com
The perspective is relatively up close in an unusually relaxed and realistic tonal feast. To my mind, this is the most realistic tonal glimpse of orchestral strings and winds I have heard. Totally unhurried, unbutttoned and relaxed but with uncanny realistic timbres on all strings and winds. No hardness at all, but a rich opulent tone that is a sonic feast in splendor.
And there is a rare harmony between players, conductor and recording team! Mr. Moneux takes an unhurried tempo which allows splendorous clarity of phrases and accomodation between players for closer musical communion. For lovers of orchestral music, this is a special recording to be treasured and revisited often.
The price is going up at $65.now because the inventory is low. But what a value it is, in terms of sonic splendor and musical luminosity. A special Beethoven's Fourth Symphony, with added Leonore #3 overture, which is just as special here.
Very few recordings attain this status in my experience. Not flashy, but pure joy.
