A strange tonearm base on a Voyd - which tonearms would fit?

Postby esanyc » 14 Jun 2012 15:23

Just bought a Voyd 3 motor TT. It has a strange tonearm base (see photo)

The hole is 29 mm wide and 72 mm long. Distances between screw holes are 40x40 mm

Help needed - which tonearms would fit without drilling it?

Really need help )) Thanks!

Isn't that an SME cutout? All SMEs, the Infinty Black Widow, and various others will fit.

I've been told the same. SO that should be an original armbase.

I wonder if I can install any other tonearm in it??

Can anyone measure the SME cutout?

And don't I need to have 4 screwing holes in right places??

Screw holes are the easiest thing to come by.

Cheers,

I've just measured my SME V cutout on my Acutus and the distance across the holes is approx 40mm centre to centre and the distance centre to centre between holes on the same side is 60 mm so I don't think it's SME if that helps...Not that you couldn't easily drill and additional two holes if you needed to fit an SME of course!!! When i bought my Voyd back in the day it came with a Helius Cut armboard (which i think i still have somewhere - i'll try to seek it out at the weekend to confirm for you). It was for the Helius Cyalene that i had on it at the time. It was a fabulous arm but was waaaaay too heavy for the Voyd suspension... The arm actually was used on my Townshend Rock Reference for a while (which it sounded great on as the Rock Refs suspension was MUCH firmer) until I sold it to a guy who wanted it because it was wired with Audio Note silver wire and had extra wires for the top of the range IO cartridge...

mmcnult1, thanks for the info!

What was the approximate weight of Helius Cyalene?

And what weight would be the best for Voyd suspention?
