Hi Rob

Do you find the glass platter to be tight on the new sub platter?

I did.

I suspect the bearing wasn't centred, causing your rattling.

Yes, its pretty snug the sub platter lifts from the bearing when the platter is removed/lifted. The rubber washers isolate the subplatter from the platter but grip it, I guess it needs that extra purchase so the glass platter doesn't slip only resting on 3 small brass areas?

I tend to use an acrylic platter now anyway, which is slightly looser, but still fits well.

If you have the brass fittings, I think you have the GTS2 like me?

I sent the subplatter back. I didn't feel the upgrade path was going to bring the rewards vs the cost and it would be a bad investment on resale, it doesn't matter what you do to it, its still a p25 on ebay.

I picked up an NA ace space, heavy upgrade kit with a 10" anna arm for considerably less than I expected last week. True, it cost more than the fully upgraded rega would have but listening to it, I can't imagine the rega ever reaching this level of performance. First impressions are this will be with me until the grim reaper comes for me :) I cant see me ever trying to or wanting to upgrade or modify this beyond a new cartridge. A power supply is available but I really don't feel the need to improve the ace space

As a bonus the wife thinks it looks nicer than the rega which she thought looked old fashioned, as a double bonus she doesn't know how to use it........ yet :(

Thanks for all the help and support, yours in music - Rob

Have you looked into the gt delrin? I'm just finishing rebuilding my p3-24. I wanted to know if you could take it past the limitations of it's price point. I have the srm/tech delux platter, which is beautiful, but I am going to try out the gt delrin. You can check the re-build out on my blog 29ordinaryguysmusicblog.com
