Would that be "Finial"? How long ago was that?
Dismord wrote:the track location software was so unpredictable it was useless.
Can't tell about the Finial models, never heard one. There have been a few times where I had some trouble with tracking, but this was allways with the machine cold. Any tracking problems disapear after a few minutes of warmup, which is also suggested in the user manual.

Yes, eliminating any danger of record wear would be a reason to use one

Clean your records
well, mate, then you won't have any problems with noise whatsoever

All lps I use on it get the looooong cleaning treatment. Still, I have lps that sound realy noisy on it, while others are dead quiet. And by that, I mean CD quiet, not a pop anywhere (... seems like I have been pampered by the digital devil for too long

) My quess is, the noisy ones have been mistreated by previous owners, so there is litle hope for a resurection. I have damaged lps myself back in my teen years, playing them on a Hitachi table which had no adjustments at all

Right there, that's the main problem with the LT, IMHO. The litle raskal works, but it still costs a fortune. Yet, the pricing policy has very much improved: I paid a @#$%load of money back in '07 when I got my first model
Well, I got the LT with the remote, then almost never needed it: I keep both the LT (and the CDp) next to the listening seat, whithin arms reach, because I dont like getting up while going through LPs, a lazy b@#$@$ I am allright

!
Guys, I've been through 3 models of the LT, except for the latest one. As expected, every upgrade shows improvements, and every upgrade is costly. But the experience has me hooked. And, since it trumped the Linn, I showed the latter one the door

I had to give up my "printed" Ride the Lightning lp, and only use the black version. Last mistake I made was when I bought a double Cocteaw Twins lp, where the second record was colored. Now I always check for the lps I buy, so as not to get any color vinyl or ones that have any images on them. Not a major problem for me though, I have very few colored lps overall.
My main complaint now with the LT is that I don't have enough time to listen to it. And I do spent a lot of time scrubing, instead of listening. On the up side, once cleaned, I naver had to clean a record twice. And the moto is right on the spot : no contact, no wear !
Hope I've helped a bit,
Charlie
