chinese website

Hello everyone,I'm a newbie and an old geezer please forgive my glacial typing if a reply is needed.Has anyone had a look at dhgate.com,who I notice are advertising on this site? They have a plethora of what purport to be branded cables.Just a couple of examples:Audio Note AnVx silver interconnect 1m $62.70 current UK price £1045.00,Nordost Red Dawn 3m pair $73.67 current UK £835.45,and the best of all Kimber 8AG 2.5m pair with gun plugs $591.47 (including shipping)current US (even Russ Andrews can't afford to stock these)$14,560 with WBT's.I can feel a get rich quick scheme coming on,then I can retire to my shed on the Essex marshes. They LOOK so good though even the packaging looks authentic, you feel yourself reaching for the plastic. And then the 4th law of thermodynamics kicks in 'there's no such thing as a FREE LUNCH,unless you're being treated to a free lunch of course. So it's back to the bell wire (cyro treated in my freezer of course)and the silver dream fades away, like the mist on the Essex marshes.

I have a couple of genuine Chinese Rolexes here, retail £4000+ yours for £50. The chances of the cables being genuine is absolutely zero

Sometimes you have to think that you are meant to be the free lunch.

Honestly, I wouldn't pay $70 for a 1m cable, let alone $1000+. I make my own fine silver twisted pair interconnects and it doesn't cost nearly that much.

The joke of the site is it has a report link on each item for anything you suspect of being fake. I was thinking of spending a few days reporting every item on the site but suspect I would be bombarded by Chinese sites wishing to sell me anything from Viagra to genuine fake Swiss Rolex.

aOn the topic of cables and cost, I actually just priced out some DIY cables I need to put together for my 36U AV rack. It came out to $3.34 USD per foot for the DIY cables, which was $99.60 for 30 feet worth of 7 RCA cables (7 pair L+R)
That's using Blue jean Cable LC-1 RG-59 coax, gold-plated connector/black chromium RCA soldered plugs, black and red heat shrink tubing, and 1/4" and 1/2" techflex sleeving for dressing them up so they look all fancy, not that anybody will see them locked inside an AV rack.. but hey, why not?
I needed to make 7 cable pair ranging from 10' to 1.5' each, all custom cut to fit so I don't have excess cable to coil and tuck when routing it.

I've done twisted pair fine silver interconnects, too that didn't cost me that much more to make. I can't imagine that Kimber, Ixos, Transparent, Cardas, or any other cable company selling cables for hundreds of dollars per meter would have anything that sounds audibly better. It just seems nuts to me to spend that much for speaker cable and interconnects.

these were a couple of speaker cables I made recently for my KEFs. the bi-amp cable has 12AWG conductors, and the 2-conductor cable is 8AWG per.
