Hi Jaap

That supply is really something and I understand that it makes a difference. One of my tasks in my proffesion was EMC-compliance according to the european regulations so I am quite familiar with that kind of problems. But a supply like that is much to advanced for me at this stage, a beginner with players of this special type as I am. I will get a belt as you suggest it was a huge difference between mine and the length of a new one. That it could be that big was a surprise.
I will check around among friends to see if I can find a transformer to get down a little in voltage. I will keep you posted how everything works out. And I hope I can get back to you with future questions. I am sure I will have a load! By the way, I have only found the user manual in french and german. German is not my best language and french is just impossible. Doesn´t it exist in english?

Good evening Jaap

How come I am not surprised that you have the manual in english?

It says TD 135 and the tone arm is a BTD-12S. Ser no 18108. I think I have read somewhere that MkII has a different tone arm.

I would prefer to get it sent by post if it is ok with you. And then also the review in HFNRR. I don´t know what HFNRR stands for but a review is of course interesting. Let me know how to pay.

I ordered and payed the belt today. Seemed to be no problem.

Jaap - you were of cource right, it made a difference!! I got the belt yesterday, very fast delivery. I put it in and tested. Adjusted for the lowest speed it made 32 rpm and very close to 33 1/3 at the higher setting. Now I know that I will be able to get it running with the correct speed. Right now I don´t think that I will do much work on it during the summer. But I can prepare myself.
Part of that preparation is to find out about the pick up. It is a Shure M75MB Type2 in a Thorens mesh headshell. That headshell is not the original for this player. Is it ok to just do that replacement? The one who did this did not have the right screws so he glued them on to the headshell! I will look for some on ebay. And I can not balance the arm by the counterweight. I have to push it as far forwards as possible and then use the adjustment for the setdown force. The weight of the headshell with pick up is 17 grams. Can the original set up be so much heavier?

Hello Klinge

Good to hear the speed is ok now ,I made the manual and review copy please your adress I send them to you .
In the manual are instructions for the arm it can take cartridges between the 5 and 19 grams. also calibration for spring under the escutcheon plate.
I have mixed feelings with this arm because the lateral bearing is intergrated in the chassis and has often to much play in the bearings.
Adjustment is not easy because the shutoff mechanismen is coupled to the arm .
You can feel the bearing play and sometimes some friction .
Best you find the original shell for it and mount a not to expensiv cartridge
and see how it works !

Thanks a lot Jaap!!! I got the papers today. It so good to understand exactly what it says in the manual. In the german manual I understand some and guess some and the french one is just not understandable to me. The review was also very interesting to read and a I got the answers to a couple of my questions directly.
The work on the player will probably rest pretty much for the summer. Meanwhile I will study everything I can find on internet regarding restoration to be prepared when the fall comes.
I will let you and everybody else on the forum know what is happening.
And thank you once more. If you need to get anything from Sweden please let me know.
